Ecotourism Kenya is seeking for sponsorship for the 2007 Regional Training Workshops on Ecotourism. The workshops that are running across the country aims to increase local people capacity to effectively participate in and benefit from Community-Based Tourism (CBT) enterprises. The Stepping Stones for ecotourism, the tool adopted by Ecotourism Kenya explore ideas for tourism involvement and introduce steps for sound tourism development planning. It is envisaged that the tool will help communities to develop their own action plans for managing tourism on their land, on jointly managed conservation areas or developing their own ideas for running a tourism enterprise. The tool is designed to get a good balance between looking after livelihood and community concerns and making a good business. The informal training is designed to create space for discussion, allow for participatory action learning, through doing and access to information.

 

The training workshops target individuals, CBOs, trainers, operators and members of CBT enterprises. This training is also relevant to yet-to-be groups in CBT enterprise conceptualization stages, on-going CBT initiatives, struggling initiatives as well as stalled CBT initiatives.
